# How to: Get a better answer when Axon says it doesn't know

1. Rephrase the question — different wording retrieves different passages.
2. Ask a follow-up that names the thing you want; Axon can search more than
   once, with different phrasings, in the same turn.
3. Confirm the file is actually indexed: open it from the **Sources**
   section and choose **More actions** → **Chunks** to see what Axon took from
   it.
4. If it's a scanned PDF, check indexing has finished — OCR is the slowest
   stage.
5. Open **Show sources and retrieval** (the columns icon at the top right of
   the chat) to see which passages were found and which were **Not used**.
