# How to: Turn a folder you already have into a project

1. Click the project name at the bottom of the sidebar to open the project
   menu, and choose **Open folder…**.
2. Pick the folder. Nothing is copied or moved anywhere — Axon works on the
   folder where it is.
3. Axon scans it and shows what it found in a card above the file list. Press
   **Index these sources** to make it searchable — opening a folder never
   starts indexing on its own.

Opening the same folder again brings back the same project rather than
creating a second one, so it's safe to do this more than once.
