# How to: Take a copy of a shared project

1. Open the project menu (the project name at the bottom of the sidebar) and
   choose **Connect**.
2. Paste the **connection details** you were given and type the **pairing
   code**.
3. Choose **Create a new project for this** or **Attach to a project I own**,
   then click **Connect**.
4. Open that project's **Share** window (project menu → **Share**). Under
   **Collaborating with**, click **Sync now** to bring the files across — and
   again whenever you want the latest.

A new project made this way is read-only (**Pending**) until the person who
shared it grants your machine write access. **Forget** ends the link; files
already copied stay.

Taking a copy is free — only the machine that shares needs Pro. See [Sharing
